GUIDANCE OFFICE

The Guidance Office extends basic guidance services like orientation, counseling, testing, information dissemination (academic, vocational,personal and social), career guidance, placement and referrals.  It also provides modules for adviser’s use during homeroom classes.  The Guidance Office primarily employs both individual and group guidance techniques to better address the specific needs of the scholars.

Basic Guidance Services

Appraisal – administers and interprets standardized psychological test to aid in understanding students. The test measures ones’ ability, study habits, aptitude, and personality.

Information – provides students information on college and universities, available scholarships, and possible careers.

Counseling – provides one on one or group counseling. The purpose of this basic service is to help the student identify the root cause of the problem and facilitate in identifying possible interventions that will help them cope with their problems and concerns.

Placement – assists students in applying for college admission and scholarships.

Special Programs – The special programs are expanded services that aim to strengthen the preventive thrust of the guidance program.  These Programs cut across year levels.

            Probation Follow-up Program. This program is intended for students who have probationary academic status. This consists of activities/sessions that aim to assist the scholar in improving his/her academic performance.

            Personal-Social Awareness Program. This program is intended to address the personal and social concerns of the students in order to help them adjust in their new environment and in the adolescent stage. Some of the activities includes structured exercises (included in the module), seminar in a healthy boy-girl relationship and conflict resolution.

            Spiritual/Moral Development Program. This program consists of activities that aim to address the spiritual concerns of the students (i.e retreat, recollection and values formation camps).

Leadership Development. This leadership training program focuses on basic leadership traits and styles as well as on group dynamics. Another element of this program is values integration that is deemed to be necessary in leadership development.

Faculty-Personnel-Parent Service Program. This program consists of activities that aim to strengthen the parent-child or the teacher-student relationship. Activities may include quarterly parenting seminar that talk about various issues and concerns of adolescents and how to effectively deal with them.

Dormitory Outreach Program. This program is basically for the interns. This consists of activities that aim to assist the intern students in adjusting to the dorm life. Some of the activities may include Monthly fellowship, homesickness, and fellowship culmination

Peer Facilitator’s Group. This program aims toextend help tothe students through peer counseling. The members of the group were chosen based on their year level, academic performance and behavior and most importantly, on their willingness to help their fellow student.
