Activity: 3rd Region-wide S.M.A.R. T Quiz Show
Date & Time: March 14, 2017@10:00 A.M.
Target Participants: 1 Grade V and 2 Grade VI Pupils
Venue: PSHS-CMC Gym, Nangka, Balo-I, Lanao del Norte

General Mechanics

• The quiz show is open to all Grades V and VI students from any public or private elementary school within Region X.
• Each school is allowed to send only one team for the competition.
• Each team will be composed of three (3) members (one grade 5 and two grade 6 pupils).
• The competition is divided into five (5) rounds -- the Written Examination Round, Science and Health Round, Mathematics and Engineering Round, Technology and Innovation Round and the Final Round.
• Questions of all rounds will be taken from elementary level topics.
• Scores of the first four (4) rounds will be summed up to determine the qualifiers for the Final Round.
• Top ten (10) teams shall qualify and participate for the last round of action.
• In case of a tie in the final round, the "sudden death" rule shall apply.
• In the "sudden death" rule, the tied teams will be given series of questions (could either be from Science and Health, Mathematics and Engineering or Technology and Innovation). The team who answered the given question correctly will remain, while the teams who got the wrong answer will be eliminated until a winner will be declared.
• Facilitators of this quiz show are the officers of the Science and Mathematics Association for Responsible Teenagers (SMART) and the faculty members of PSHS-CMC.
• Judges of this quiz show are coming from selected faculty members of Science Math Technology (SMT) Department.

1. Written Examination Round

• This round is a team written examination.
• The examination is good for 30 minutes.
• A thirty-Item test will be given to each team. Ten (10) items from Math and Engineering topics, ten (10) items from Science and Health topics and ten (10) items from Technology and Innovation.
• Each Item will have a 1 point credit, regardless of the difficulty of the question.
• Each team Is required to bring at least two (2) pencils and eraser.
• Test questionnaires, answer sheets and scratch papers will be provided.
• The use of calculators Is not allowed.
• No one is allowed to go out from the test area during the contest proper.
• All given materials must be submitted to the facilitators at the end of the examination.
• The test papers will be checked, scored and shall be tallied by authorized facilitators.

The sum of the scores of the ~earn members will serve as the team score for this particular round.

2. Technology and Innovation Round

• This round is an oral individual competition.
• One contestant from the participating team will participate in this round.
• Contestants will be provided with tag boards, erasers, chalks, and scratch papers.
• This round is divided into 3 levels - Easy, Average and Difficult.
• Each level is composed of 5 Technology and Innovation questions.
• Time limit will be specified in each level: ten (10) seconds for Easy, fifteen (15) seconds for Average, and twenty (20) seconds for Difficult.
• Each Easy Round question is worth 1 point; 3 points for Average; and 5 points for Difficult.
• All questions will only be read twice by the quiz master.
• The clock countdown starts after the quiz master has read the question twice and signaled "go".
• Tag boards should be raised and presented to the judges when the quiz master signals to do so after the allotted time.
• Tag boards should only be put down after the quiz master and the judges have recognized the answers and the results have been tailled.
• Participants can start writing their answers even before the quiz master finishes reading the questions.
• All questions from the participants must be addressed to the judges before the next question is read.
• The decision of the judges is final and irrevocable.
• The score of the participant will serve as the team score for this round.

3. Science and Health Round

• This round is an oral individual competition.
• The other participant of the team (the contestant who did not participate in the Technology and Innovation Round) will participate in this round.
• Contestants will be provided with tag boards, erasers, chalks, and scratch papers.
• This round is divided into 3 levels - Easy, Average and Difficult.
• Each level is composed of 5 pure Science and Health questions.
• Time limit will be specified in each level: ten (10) seconds for Easy, fifteen (15) seconds for Average, and twenty (20) seconds for Difficult.
• Each Easy Round question is worth 1 point; 3 points for Average; and 5 points for Difficult.
• All questions will only be read twice by the quiz master.
• The clock countdown starts after the quiz master has read the question twice and signaled "go".
• Tag boards should be raised and presented to the judges when the quiz master signals to do so after the allotted time.
• Tag boards should only be put down after the quiz master and the judges have recognized tne answers and the results have been tallied.
• Participants can start writing their answers even before the quiz master finishes-reading the questions.
• All questions from the participants must be addressed to the judges before the next question is read.
• The decision of the judges is final and Irrevocable.
• The score of the participant will serve as the team score for this round .

3. Mathematics and Engineering Round

• This round is an oral individual competition.
• The other participant of the team (the contestant who did not participate In the Technology and Innovation and the Science and Health Round)
will participate in this round.
• Contestants will be provided with tag boards, erasers, chalks, and scratch papers.
• Using calculators Is not allowed.
• This round ls divided into 3 levels - Easy, Average and Difficult.
• Each level Is composed of 5 Mathematics and Engineering questions.
• Time limit will be specified in each level: fifteen (15) seconds for Easy, thirty (30) seconds for Average, and forty five (45) seconds for Difficult.
• Each Easy Round question is worth 1 point; 3 points for Average; and 5 points for Difficult.
• All questions will only be read twice by the quiz master.
• The clock countdown starts after the quiz master has read the question twice and signaled ".go "
• Tag boards should be raised and p·resented to the judges when the quiz master signals to do so after the allotted time.
• Tag boards shall only be put down after the quiz master and the judges have recognized the answers and the results have been tallied.
• Participants can start solving and write their answers even before the quiz master finishes reading the questions.
• All questions from the participants must be addressed to the judges before the next question is read.
• The decision of the judges is final and irrevocable.
• The score of the participant shall serve as the team score for this round.

4. The Final Round

• The final round is an oral team competition.
• Top five (5) teams with the highest total scores after the first four ( 4) rounds will participate in this round.
• The score of each team for this round is back to zero.
• Contestants will be provided with tag boards, erasers, chalks, and scratch papers.
• Using calculators is not allowed.
• This round is divided into 3 levels - Easy, Average and Difficult.
• Each level is composed of 15 questions, (5) questions from Math and Engineering, five (5) questions from Science and Health, and five
(5} questions from Technology and Innovation.
• The quiz master will specify the subject area from which the question is taken before the question is read.
• The time limit will be specified in each level. For Mathematics and Engineering questions: fifteen (15) seconds for Easy, thirty (30) · seconds for Average, and forty fi,e (45) seconds for Difficult. For Science and Health questions: ten (10) seconds for Easy, fifteen (15) seconds for Average, and twenty (20) seconds for Difficult. For Technology and Innovation questions: ten (10) seconds for Easy, fifteen (15) seconds for Average, and twenty (20) seconds for Difficult.
• Each Easy Round question is worth 1 point; 3 points for Average; and 5 points for Difficult.
• All questions will only be read twice by the quiz master.
• The clock countdown starts after the question has been read for the second time and a "go" signal is given.
• Tag boards should be raised and presented to the judges when the quiz master signals to do so after the allotted time.
• Tag boards should only be put down after the quiz master and the judges have recognized the answers and the results have been tallied.
• Participants can already start solving and writing their answers even before the quiz master finishes reading the questions.
• All questions from the participants must be addressed to the judges before the next question is read.
• The decision of the judges is final and irrevocable.
• Scores from each sub round (Easy, Moderate, and Difficult) will be summed up to determine the team's final score.
• The team with the highest score will be declared the Champion.
• Certificates, trophies, medals, and cash prizes will be given to the winners.
