PSHS-CMC abides with the existing policy of no discrimination based on gender identity, sexual orientation, disabilities, religion, and/or indigenous group membership in the hiring process.

GAD Focal Point System (GFPS) Coordinator Marisa L. Dahan shared the GAD mainstreaming best practices of Central Mindanao Campus (CMC) during the DOST GAD Focal Point Assembly on October 26-28, 2022 at Solea Mactan Resort, Cordova, Cebu.

The said assembly was participated in by the DOST personnel across the country which made Dahan feel so privileged as a sharer.

“It was really an honor and a privilege for me to share before the DOST personnel, CMC’s best practices on GAD mainstreaming because it was already a DOST level, not just PSHS level,” Dahan said.

During her presentation, Dahan told CMC’s GAD story that highlighted its challenges, interventions, and lessons learned.

The challenges included the non-compliance of allocating at least 5% of GAD budget in the previous years, the not functional GFPS, the lack of capacity building training and activities for the GFPS and employees, the lack of policies to mainstream GAD in the organization, and the failure to establish GAD mechanisms.

She then shared the interventions done by CMC to address the mentioned challenges. Among these interventions were the conduct and the strengthening of the capacity building for the GFPS and the other employees, the reconstitution of GFPS, the issuance of policies to support GAD, the attribution of programs and policies, and the establishment of GAD mechanisms.

Dahan continued her sharing by presenting the lessons learned by CMC in the course of mainstreaming GAD in the organization. She said about the importance of a strong support from the top management, the willingness of employees to accept GAD responsibility, the importance of motivating employees through giving of awards and incentives, of increasing the percentage of GAD utilization rate by attributing major flagship programs and projects, and of the need to improve documentation system.

She then ended her share by saying, “In gender mainstreaming, CMC must step forward to achieve gender equality and women empowerment.”

The invitation to share was given after CMC won second place in the DOST GAD Mainstreaming Award 2022 PSHS Campus Category during the DOST @64 Gabi ng Parangal at Pasasalamat on June 13, 2022.
