Challenges, growth, victories shape 26-year Pisay CMC, says Salisid

As we reflect on the past 26 years, we are reminded of the incredible growth, accomplishments, and challenges that have shaped our campus into what it is today, said PSHS-CMC Campus Director Franklin L. Salisid at the Araw ng Parangal held on January 19, 2023 at the campus gymnasium.

Salisid delivered the opening remarks to officially start the program where he emphasized the importance of the 26th Founding Anniversary of CMC and lauded its faculty and staff for their commitment.

“To all the ManCom [Management Committee] members, faculty members, staff members, students, alumni, parents, and friends who have been part of this incredible journey, I extend my deepest gratitude,” The Director said. “Your contributions, big and small, have played a crucial role in shaping this institution.”

Faculty and staff awards

Eleven personnel received the Loyalty Award: Supervising Admin Officer Marisa Dahan, Admin Officer V Jesserie Buta, SST V Carlito Lariosa, SST IV Ma. Luisa Cala, SST IV Sheila Marie Lazardo, SST IV Perlita Requino, SST III Jasmin Esperante, SST III Loumar Abing for 25 years of service, SST III Redempto Jr. Madrazo for 20 years of service, Admin Officer III Romign Gizella Mancera, and Admin Aide VI Gillian Sofia Dimalig for ten years.

“We are here to celebrate the service and our gratitude to the loyalty of these personnel who laid the foundation of this institution,” said Richard Jumawan, the PRAISE committee chairperson who announced the awards. “It [loyalty as a personnel of CMC] is a commitment to brave challenges together.”

Three employees received the Outstanding Employee Award: SST V Gay Marie Madrazo, Admin Officer V Elena Marmes, and Science Research Assistant Fatima Tulog. Meanwhile, SST V Engr. Macamay was awarded the Sinagtala Teaching Excellence Award.

The Gantimpala Agad Award was also granted to the three employees: Admin Officer IV Joy Nuenay, Guidance Service Associate I Leslie Ann Sayles, and SST II Dandie Somoson.

Certificate of Appreciation was then given to stakeholders, the Federated Parent-Teacher Association (FPTA) and the Dorm Parents Association (DPA) officers.

Speeches from La Norte provincial government and alumni

Lanao del Norte Provincial Governor Imelda “Angging” Dimaporo, represented by First District Board Member Grecille Matalines, congratulated CMC for its 26 years of truth, excellence, and service.

“This celebration not only marks a significant milestone in the history of PSHS-CMC but also reflects the unwavering commitment to excellence, hard work, and perseverance of all personnel and students on this campus,” Matalines said.

Furthermore, she commended the members of the management committee, educators, staff, and students, emphasizing their dedication and hard work to the development of the campus.

“Your tireless efforts, burning the midnight oil just to study, do not go unnoticed,” the Board Member said. “You are the cornerstones of this institution’s continued growth and success.”

Class of 2008 alumni Atty. Daneva Anticamara and Engr. Harryl Cabardo were also invited to deliver speeches to inspire the scholars.

Anticamara reminded the scholars to make the most out of the experiences they have in Pisay.

“Whatever you experience right now as a Pisay scholar, be grateful about it because your experiences here will surely help you in the future, and no matter what, always be humble,” she said.

Cabardo, a former member of the campus league Red Dragons, mentioned pressure being a constant part of the lives of Pisay scholars.

“One thing about being a student and working is that there will always be pressure,” he said. “But it will not prevent us from achieving fulfillment in our lives; we will continue to build Pisay.”

Akil Sanggulingan, Grade 9 Supreme Council of Scholars (SCS) Batch Representative said the speeches were “inspiring,” and it “was very generous of them to share their time to greet and talk with CMC even though they have their respective jobs.”

Choreographed performances and musical numbers

The Araw ng Parangal was also a display of talent not just from students but also from the faculty and staff, and even from the parents.

The opening salvo was performed by the select faculty and staff dancing to the beat of retro music that had audiences raving and cheering.

The members of the Alternative Learning Activity (ALA) Dance with Maria Luisa Cala as the adviser then performed a modern dance number.

“It took us about two months to choose, practice, and master the whole dance routine,” member of ALA Dance, Adelaide Trinidad said. “Despite the hurdles and challenges we faced during the preparation for our performance, although it wasn’t that perfect, we managed to slay the stage.”

The SCALE dance club Pasion also performed a remixed dance number featuring Carl Kelvin Sapio also known as “Sir Masoy” who surprised crowds halfway through the performance.

Meanwhile, ALA Musical Instruments adviser, Praise Joy Flores led a 20-member angklung ensemble with 18 angklung players and two guitarists, who later did a kulintang ensemble during the awarding of faculty and staff.

The Grade 12 parents also showcased a dance number that captivated the audience as they gracefully led the crowd in following their moves.

The Araw ng Parangal was a highlight of a two-day celebration of the 26th Founding Anniversary of the PSHS-Central Mindanao Campus alongside the Campus Ugnayan of the four leagues: Red Dragons, Green Gryphons, Blue Fawkes, and Yellow Flares.
